About this aquarium plant food

Iron DTPA is a chelated iron supplement — the most reliable and stable form of iron available for planted aquariums. Chelation means the iron is bound in a molecular cage that keeps it soluble and available to plants rather than immediately precipitating out of the water column as it would in its unchelated form.

DTPA chelation is specifically stable up to pH 7.5, making it suitable for the vast majority of freshwater aquariums. This is a meaningful advantage over EDTA-chelated iron, which loses stability above pH 6.5 and becomes significantly less effective in harder water.

At 11% iron concentration this is a professional-grade product — the same quality used by experienced hobbyists who mix their own fertilisers from scratch. Iron deficiency is one of the most common problems in planted tanks. You’ll see it as yellowing or pale new growth, particularly on fast-growing stem plants. A small regular dose keeps leaves green and vibrant. The 50g pack is ideal for most hobbyists and will last a considerable time.
