Why we built Aquafertz
We’ve been keeping aquariums for years through The Shrimp Hub — selling shrimp, plants, and aquarium supplies to hobbyists across the UK. Over and over again, we heard the same thing: fertilising is confusing.
People were buying liquid fertilisers that did very little. Others were trying to mix their own dry ferts and getting overwhelmed by the maths, the measuring, and the sourcing. And plenty of people were just skipping fertilising altogether and wondering why their plants wouldn’t grow.
Aquafertz was built to solve that problem. We use the PPS-Pro method — one of the most trusted approaches in the hobby — and we’ve taken all the faff out of it. We measure the compounds, we label everything, we include the bottles and syringes. You just add water and dose.
It’s designed to be as easy as possible without cutting any corners on quality or effectiveness. Professional-grade nutrition, none of the complexity.
Simple should not mean basic
We don’t believe fertilising your tank should require a chemistry degree. Every product we make is designed to be understood and used by anyone — whether you’ve been keeping aquariums for 20 years or 20 days.
Simple to use doesn’t mean watered down. We use the same dry fertiliser compounds that experienced hobbyists mix themselves — we’ve just done the measuring for you.
We’re aquarium keepers ourselves. Every product we sell is something we’d use in our own tanks. If it doesn’t work well for us, it doesn’t get listed.
We won’t upsell you on things you don’t need. If the full kit is right for you, great. If you only need one compound, we’ll tell you that too. We’d rather you succeed with a small order than struggle with a big one.
